Eco-friendly Gifts

Eco-friendly Gifts

By Lesley Nagy

This holiday season, it’s trendy to give green. That doesn’t mean putting cash in a card, but rather, offering presents that use less energy and natural resources. According to a holiday survey, 55 percent of Americans are seeking out environmentally-friendly gifts and products.

“We think people are getting more aware that a greener option would be a better option for a holiday gift,” said Kirk Lumpkin, special events and promotions coordinator at the Ecology Center in Berkeley.

The Ecology Center is a membership organization offering environmental programs that promote sustainable living; they have a gift center. Located on San Pablo Avenue, the store is packed with items that keep the 3 R’s in mind -- reduce, reuse, recycle.
