Bike To Work Day 2008

Bike To Work Day 2008

The entire month of May is National Bike Month and that means the official Bike to Work Day is just around the corner in the Bay Area.

This year, it's slated for May 15th. Each year, thousands of commuters, including San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, ditech four wheeled transportation to bike it to work instead. It's all to make a statement about the importance biking has in the community and on the environment.

Here are some facts according to 511.org:

If you drove an SUV and lived 5 miles from work, you would save $346.32 a year by biking to work one day a week?

If you drove a Toyota Camry and lived 9 miles from work, you would reduce emissions pollutants by 908 lbs year by biking one day a week.
